Deborah Heart and Lung Center H1N1 Flu Statement

As with all health care providers across this country, the medical professionals at Deborah Heart and Lung Center urge everyone to take the precautions necessary to stop the spread of this disease, including diligently washing their hands with soap and water or an alcohol-based gel, covering your cough or sneeze with tissues or your sleeve, and disposing of used tissues promptly.

Additionally, avoid contact with those who are ill or those who show flu symptoms, and if you are ill, stay home from work and other group activities, and do not visit hospitals to avoid infecting others. The CDC recommends staying home for seven days from the onset of the flu and until you are fever-free for 24 hours.

If your influenza case is mild, it may be best to stay home and treat the symptoms with a fever/pain reducer, and get plenty of rest and fluids to avoid infecting others; however, if you have risk factors for flu complications, see your doctor right away.

The staff of Deborah Heart and Lung Center will continue working hand in hand with public health officials, diligently using our full arsenal of resources to halt the spread of the virus and keep those who are infected as comfortable as possible on their road to recovery, while protecting the community at large.
